Klagenfurt lays very close to Italy and Slovenia in the southern part of Austria. Klagenfurt is located 446 metres above sea level so expect the climate to be quite pleasant during hot summer days. Klagenfurt is the sixth larges city in Austria and has many beautiful castles scattered around the outskirts of town, as well as many castle-like hotels.
The Klagenfurt stadium is called Wörthersee Stadion and is completely new, opened as late as 2007. It is multifunctional with many facilities and is beautifully located next to lake Wörthersee. You might be able to find a hotel between Klagenfurt town and here, it’s a 5 kilometre walk to town.
